DCMC Lahan urges schools to shut operation

LAHAN: The District Disaster Management Committee has decided to shut the operation of schools operating at different local levels.

A meeting of the committee took the decision to close down the schools which have been operational by maintaining social distancing.

Siraha Chief District Officer Pradeep Raj Kandel shared that the decision was made to urge the schools to adopt alternative learning methods to avoid physical presence of students in the classes.

Making physical presence of students in the schools would increase the risk of coronavirus transmission, he said. The Mirchaiya and Golbazar municipalities and Laxmipur Patari rural municipality of Siraha had decided to resume the operation of schools.

He said that the committee has to take the decision to shut the operation of schools when the community and institutional schools here have started running classes by making physical presence of the students. —
