COVID-19 claims four additional people on early Tuesday

KATHMANDU: With the COVID-19 pandemic gaining a foothold, four additional people have died from the virus in the country on Tuesday morning.

Two men have died from coronavirus in the course of treatment at Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar this morning.

The deceased are two males aged 50 and 45 from Morang district.

“A 50-year-old man of Kanepokhari rural municipality-6 and a 45-year-old man of Ratuwamai municipality-8 have succumbed to the virus at the wee hours on Tuesday,” informed Narayan Dahal, public information officer for the hospital.

The 50-year-old man who was hospitalized on Monday afternoon after he complained of high fever breathed his last at 3 am today.  His swab report came out positive on Monday evening. According to Dahal, the patient was suffering from chronic blood cancer.

Similarly, the 45-year-old man, who had been undergoing treatment since last September 29, passed away at 2:30 am today informed Dahal. He was being treated in isolation after being diagnosed with the COVID-19 since September 30.

A 64-year-old man has died from the coronavirus in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institue of Health Sciences in Dharan on this morning.

The deceased is from Dharan Sub Metropolitan City-3.

According to Dr Ashish Shresth, the spokesperson for the Institute, he had been undergoing treatment after testing positive for the coronavirus on September 28.

He had also been suffering from diabetes and tuberculosis, according to the hospital.

Likewise, a 77-year-old man has died from coronavirus in Chitwan district on this morning.

According to Dr Dayaram Lamsal, the director of Chitwan Medical College, the septuagenarian succumbed to the virus in the course treatment at the hospital this morning.

Originally from Kawasoti municipality-5, he had been admitted to the hospital on October 2 and tested positive for the virus on October 4.

He was being treated at Interim Care Unit.

The elderly was also suffering from pneumonia and respiratory complications.
