Bardibas-Simara electric railway continues amid lockdown

BARDIBAS: The work on the Bardibas-Simara electric railway has continued amid the current lockdown.

The railway, a national pride project, has been divided into 17 parts from Bardibas to Rautahat’s Gujara.

Construction of 15 small and big bridges is underway under the section.

Of the total 108-kilometer Bardibas-Simara railway, 50 percent work on 70-kilometer along the part has been completed, according to rail engineer Suresh Sah.

Culvert installation along the section is also underway.

Lalbandi Municipality has coordinated the project, Municipality Mayor Man Bahadur Khadka said.

However, the work on the project in Bardibas is yet to start due to disputes over tree cutting and compensation for the lands acquired for the project, said Bardibas municipality Mayor Bidur Kumar Karki.

Compensation disputes have also led to project work effect at various places in Sarlahi and Rautahat districts.
