SC’s full bench overturns then CJ’s judgment on murder case

KATHMANDU: The full bench of the Supreme Court has overturned a judgment of the then Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli that the two accused in the dowry-related murder case should be acquitted.

The full bench has sentenced the deceased’s husband and his brother to life imprisonment for their involvement in the murder case.

The then Chief Justice Parajuli had made a judgment to give a clean chit to both of them. Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada had disagreed with the judgment and case was presented before the full bench.

The two were later found guilty by an appellate court in a case they were acquitted by the district court.
