Coronavirus death toll crosses 251,900 globally with over 3.6 million infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 251, 947 after 3,802 died in the last 24 hours as of Tuesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 77, 515 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 3,641,204 as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 2,196, 298 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 49, 627 are critical.

Meanwhile, 1,192,959 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,151 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 69,717 as of Tuesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 23,716 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,211,838.

Currently, 955, 093 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,043 are critical.  Meanwhile, 187, 036 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 24, 944 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 7,951 and 4, 135 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has 195 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 29, 079 as of Tuesday morning.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 211, 938 after 1,221 new cases were reported, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America, according to Worldometer.

Currently, 99,980 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1,479 are critical. Meanwhile, 82,879 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 248,301 after the United States of America (USA).

The country reported 1,179 infection cases, 164 deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 25, 428 have died due to the novel virus as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 71, 240 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,254 are critical.

Meanwhile, 151, 633 have recovered after treatment.

The death toll in the United Kingdom (UK) has reached 28, 734 after 288 died in the last 24 hours as of Tuesday morning.

According to Worldometer,  with 3, 985 new cases,  the number of infection cases has surged to 190, 584.

Currently, 161, 506 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.   UK has performed tests on 1,291,591  people so far.

France has reported 306 deaths in the last 24 hours taking to death toll to 25, 201 deaths as of Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the number of infection cases has surged to 169, 462 after 306 new cases were reported.

Currently, 92, 890 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 3, 696 are critical. Meanwhile, 51, 371 have returned home after recovery.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 251,947 and infecting 3,641,204 people as of Tuesday morning.
