Everest Premier League postponed over coronavirus scare

KATHMANDU: The Everest Premier League (EPL) slated to be held from March 14-28 at TU Cricket Ground has been postponed over fears of coronavirus.

Holding a press meet on Thursday, the organizers said that the tournament has been postponed until further notice.

The organizers said that the tournament was postponed as Nepal is at high risk of a possible outbreak of coronavirus.

The decision comes on the heels of the National Sports Council (NSC)’s decision to halt all the sports-related activities in view of the fast-spreading coronavirus.

The NSC took a decision to this effect after the government directed to put a ban holding mass meetings, gatherings and party-related activities.

The upcoming season of EPL was set to feature world-renowned cricketers including Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla, Dwayne Smith and Corey Anderson among others.
