NCP has every right to accept or reject MCC: NCP Chair Dahal

KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal today hinted at the possibility that the party has every right to reject the recommendation of the three-member team formed to suggest on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Dahal said the party would reach a decision only after a thorough discussion on the recommendation of the three-member team led by party senior leader Jhalanath Khanal.

Speaking at a program in Kaski, Dahal said, “The team has already initiated the work. However, it does not mean that the team’s recommendation would be endorsed by the party as it is.”

He said that the NCP central members are in favor of endorsing it only after brainstorming on the issue.

“It’s not that the party’s central committee wants to reject the MCC Compact outright,” he said clarifying that there have to be thorough deliberations within the party.

The three-member team has Foreign Minister and party leader Pradeep Gyawali and Bhim Rawal as members.
