Internet users increase by 2.5 million in past six months

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) said the number of internet users in Nepal has increased by 2.5 million in the past six months.

Until mid-May last year, more than 18.6 million people were using the internet. The number increased to 21.2 million as of mid-November 2019, it said.

The NTA, in the Management Information System report, said that 71.52 percent of the country’s total population is now connected to the internet.

According to the report, there has been a significant increase in the numbers of mobile internet and fixed broadband users.

More than 55.39 percent of the country’s population use mobile internet. The majority of them use the 3G service.
