Nomination filing for NA elections today



KATHMANDU: Candidates are scheduled to submit their nomination papers for the election of Upper House of the federal parliament on Sunday.

The nomination registration process will begin at 10:00 am and will conclude at 3:00 pm today.

Of the total 59 members at the Upper House, tenure of 19 members is ending on March 1.

As per the legal provision, the Upper House should get its lawmakers 35 days before others’ term expires.

The vacant posts of 18 members would be fulfilled by the election while one will be appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

The Election Commission has designated the High Courts from the respective states as the offices of the returning officers for filing of the nominations.
