KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Executive Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have held a one-on-one meeting at Baluwatar.
NCP chairman duo Oli and Dahal held a one-on-one meeting to thrash out the existing differences prior to the Secretariat meeting scheduled for today, informed Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa.
The Secretariat meeting scheduled today is expected to dwell on the political dossiers tabled separately by Executive Chairman Dahal (on November 10) and Prime Minister Oli (on December 2).
There has been a political stalemate since the two heavyweights show no flexibility in their stances. There had been no meetings between Oli and Dahal prior to November 10.
Second rung leaders of NCP have intensified informal meetigns and dialogues to create environment conducive for meetings between the two heavyweights so as to keep the party united.
Foreign Minister and Standing Committee Member Pradeep Gyawali reached Khumaltar this morning to facilitate meeting between Oli and Dahal.
Likewise, on Friday, Standing Committee member and Energy Minister Barsha Man Pun and Chief Minister of Lumbini Pradesh Shankar Pokharel, who is considered close to Oli, held an hours-long meeting to break the ongoing deadlock.
In recent months, the ruling NCP has witnessed an intra-party dispute over the appointment of ambassadors, a Cabinet reshuffle, a dispute in Karnali Province, a vendetta among party cadres in Tarai districts, RAW Chief’s meeting with PM Oli.
