General Naravane being conferred with honorary title of NA chief today



KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is being conferred with the honorary title of Nepal Army (NA) chief on Thursday.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will confer the title of honorary chief of the NA on him amidst a special program at Shital Niwas today.

Naravane, who is on a three-day visit to Nepal, is participating in the main official program today.

A squad of Nepal Army will offer General Naravane a guard of honor at the Nepal Army headquarters after he is conferred with the title of honorary chief of the NA this afternoon.

He is also scheduled to visit Veer Smarak (Memorial to the Brave Soldier) at the Army pavilion, Tundikhel to offer tribute.

Naravane will also pay visits to Prime Minister KP Oli, who is looking after the Ministry of Defense, and his Nepal’s counterpart General Purna Chandra Thapa before participating in a dinner reception to be organized in his honor by General Thapa.

Naravane who came to Nepal at the official invitation will return home on Friday.
