KATHMANDU:  A meeting of top-notch leaders of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) is taking place in Budhanilkantha on Thursday.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called this meeting to forge agreement among the top leaders on crucial issues prior to the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

The meeting to be participated by officer-bearers, former office-bearers and some CWC members will dwell on the 16-point protest letter submitted by the faction led by senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel.

The CWC meeting has been called tomorrow (Friday) to discuss the upcoming 14th general convention and differences of the party.

Paudel faction has been raising questions on various issues including active membership, timely holding of the 14th general convention and the formation of the departments.

Paudel faction has been demanding that the departments be scrapped arguing that they were formed unilaterally at a time when the party’s general convention was fast-approaching.

However, Deuba faction is claiming that the departments have been formed in line with the party statute.
