Kathmandu Valley records 1,531 new COVID-19 cases,12 deaths



KATHMANDU: As many 1,531 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,178 persons in Kathmandu, 103 in Bhaktapur and 250 in Lalitpur have been infected with pandemic virus.

Similarly, 12 persons including three females have died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the valley.

Three females aged 76-year-old, 81-year-old, 83-year-old and six males aged 26, 65, 67, 78, 81 and 91 years in Kathmandu and a 3-year-old, a 55-year-old and a 71-year-old males in Lalitpur succumbed to coronavirus.

A total of 2,440 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across the nation in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of coronavirus infections has reached 89,263.

In a regular press briefing today at the Ministry of Health and Population, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the new number of coronavirus cases was confirmed in 13,781 PCR tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,088,229 PCR tests have been carried out so far.

On the occasion, it was shared that a total of 1,133 people returned home after recovery from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of people discharged after recovery has reached 65,202. The recovery percentage as of today is 73 percent.

Nepal currently has 23,507 active cases.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam added that a total of 12,316 people are in home isolation, 11,191 people in institutional isolation and 4,033 in quarantine facilities.

A total of 19 people lost their lives from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of people who have died from the coronavirus has reached 554 so far.
