NCP entrusts Dahal and Poudel to set agenda for Standing Committee meeting



KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has entrusted party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and general-secretary Bishnu Poudel to prepare the agenda proposal to be tabled at the Standing Committee meeting to be held on Thursday.

A meeting between Dahal and Prime Minister KP Oli, who is also the party Chairman, held at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar entrusted Dahal and Poudel to prepare the agenda for the meeting.

Dahal and Poudel will now work to that end encompassing the aspirations of the party Secretariat meeting held on Saturday.

The proposal will be crafted in such a way that it will pave the way toward strengthening party unity, a leader said.

This means that while PM Oli will continue as the Prime Minister for the full term of five years, Dahal will lead the party as an Executive Chairman.

The Standing Committee of the party has been scheduled for May 7. Prior to the meeting, the Secretariat members will sit on Wednesday to finalize the draft of the agenda to be taken to the Standing Committee meeting.

The ruling NCP, which was embroiled in a row, has been seeking out ways to narrow down the differences between the top brass.

A meeting of the Secretariat on Saturday has agreed to set agendas for the May 7 Standing Committee meeting.

NCP Chairman Dahal, who held a 40-minute-long talks with PM Oli prior to Saturday’s Secretariat meeting, had reiterated his call to thrash out all differences from the Standing Committee once and for all.
