US reports 68, 566 deaths, 1,187,233 infection cases



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,122 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 68, 566 as of Monday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 26,459 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,187,233.

Currently, 940, 404 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,139 are critical.  Meanwhile, 178, 263 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 24, 648 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 7,886 and 4, 049 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 248,094 and infecting 3,562,268 people as of Monday morning.
