Govt moving ahead following experts’ advice: Minister Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal has said the government was moving ahead following the suggestions of the experts to combat the possible outbreak of COVID-19.

In an interaction with experts at the Ministry today, Minister Dhakal said the Ministry was carrying out its activities following the advice of public health experts.

He also praised the role of health workers and doctors in this critical hour. He shared that he held discussions with an organization of South-East Asian countries under the WHO on Thursday regarding the situation of the pandemic.

According to him, all COVID-19 confirmed persons were home recently from abroad. So, persons recently come from abroad should be alert and they should be kept in quarantine.

Chair of Nepal Medical Council Dr. Bhagwan Koirala said that all should be made alert on the possible deadly situation of the coronavirus. He added that the rate of lab tests should be intensified- at least 1,000 daily.

Public health expert Dr. Arjun Karki said that the government efforts were positive as the world scientific community was still in confusion in this case. Secretary at the Ministry, Yadav Koirala, Prof Dr. Sharad Onta, Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh, Dr. Pradeep Baidya, Dr. Kedar Baral among other experts were present in the interaction.
