NC row: Poudel-faction to boycott district-presidents’ training

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress party is caught in a quagmire yet again as the faction led by party senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has decided to boycott the training meant for district vice-presidents.

A meeting of the Poudel-faction held at leader Prakash Man Singh’s residence at Chaksibari in Kathmandu today decided that no central members and district presidents of the Poudel faction would attend the training, party sources said.

This indicates that the Poudel-led faction is dissatisfied with party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s recent nomination to the posts of the party departments.

The disgruntled section of the party believes that Deuba’s nomination to the party departments will make an influence in the NC’s upcoming general convention.

“Deuba’s decision is sure to influence the convention,” party leader Singh said adding, “The party President cannot make decisions on his own when the internal code of conduct has been in place.”
