Parties to file candidacy for NA members on Sunday

KATHMANDU: Political parties are filing candidacy on Sunday for the election of the National Assembly members slated on January 23. The Election Commission informed that one can register his/her candidacy from 10 am to 3:00 pm at the concerned election office set up in the district having High Court.

For filing the candidacy, one needs his/her certified copy of citizenship, photocopy of voter’s ID card, and bank voucher showing deposit. The women, Dalit and those from minority group are provided 50 percent discount on deposit for their candidacy charge.

Moreover, they are obliged to submit the formal letter of candidacy. Dalit, and those from minority community need to produce a certified document issued by the concerned rural municipality or municipality to prove them belonging to the Dalit and minority community.

Out of total 59 members in the National Assembly, the term of 19 members is expiring on coming March 3. Among 19 members, 18 are elected while 1 is recommended by the President.
