MoWCSC writes to continue social security allowances

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens (MOWCSC) has written to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration for an immediate provision to give continuity to the social allowances being given to single women, physically-challenged people and others.

The MOWCSC has written to the Federal Affairs Ministry as the social security allowances for the single women and completely disabled persons were cut since April.

As stated in the letter, the MOWCSC has asked to ensure provision for doling out all types of social security allowances adding that the budget speech for the fiscal year 2020/21 has also stated the issue.

The Ministry took such a move after the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal lodged an application expressing its concerns to the curtailment of social security allowance to single women and completely disabled people.

Likewise, Minister for MOWCSC Parbat Gurung has committed not to curtail the social security allowances adding that needed steps are ongoing to facilitate this.
