Kathmandu Valley registers 1,599 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths

KATHMANDU: As many as 1,599 persons in Kathmandu Valley have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,373 persons in Kathmandu, 39 in Bhaktapur and 187 in Lalitpur have been infected with the pandemic virus.

Similarly, 2 males have died of coronavirus in the Valley in the last 24 hours.

A 55-year-old male in Kathmandu and 77-year-old male in Lalitpur succumbed to COVID-19.

Likewise, a total of 2,253 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across the nation in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of coronavirus infections has reached 86,823.

In a regular press briefing today at the Ministry of Health and Population, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the new number of coronavirus cases was confirmed in 12,784 PCR tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

A total of 10,74,448 PCR tests have been carried out so far.

On the occasion, it was shared that a total of 1,329 people returned home after recovery from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of people discharged after recovery has reached 64,069. The recovery percentage as of today is 73.7% percent.

The Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,599 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

Nepal currently has 22,219 active cases.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam added that a total of 11,893 people are in home isolation, 10,326 people in institutional isolation and 4,203 in quarantine facilities.

A total of 226 coronavirus-infected people are receiving treatment in ICU and 34 with the help of ventilators, according to the Ministry.

A total of 7 people lost their lives from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of people who have died from the coronavirus has reached 535 so far.
