KHANDBARI: A man died of altitude sickness at Yanlekharka of Makalu Rural Municipality-2 in Saunkhuwasabha district.

The deceased has been identified as Bibek Shrestha of Khandbari Municipality-1.

The incident occurred when Shrestha was on the way to the Makalu Base Camp.

He showed symptoms on the way and died on Friday night while asleep at a hotel, said Sushila Karki who accompanied him on the journey.

A team of people had gone to the base camp on September 28.

The body of the late Shrestha has been carried by a helicopter to Khandabri, the district headquarters, said Nawaraj Malla, chief of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha.
