Coronavirus kills 39,002, infects 1,858,689 in India



KATHMANDU: India has reported 803 deaths and more than 50,000 new cases in a single day, making it the world’s highest daily total.

The world’s second most populous country has the fifth highest death toll, and continues to try to reopen after lockdown.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, as many as 39,002 people have died and 1,858,689 have been infected as of Tuesday afternoon.

Currently, 588,005 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country, of which 8,944 critical. Meanwhile, 1,231,682 people have recovered after treatment.

India has conducted 20,864,750 coronavirus tests till date.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 113 countries, killing 697,435 and infecting 18,456,665 people across the world.
