KATHMANDU: After the government’s approval for the action plan for the facilitation of the Nepalis stranded abroad on June 1, the Covid-19 Control Management Committee (CCMC) has accelerated its detailed plan for the arrangement of the homecomers both at the entry point and the quarantine centers.
As per the action plan, people returning from India and other places will be monitored and taken care of in holding centers in 20 entry points.
Their health will be checked up in those holding centers. The Embassy of Nepal in India has already issued directives suggesting the citizens to use the assigned entry points and abide by the holding centers regulations.
In the case of Nepali repatriates from other countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is supposed to work as a focal point in this regard.
According to CCMC sources, the returnees using the air route have to use the quarantines set up in the hotels. The cost of the quarantine has to be borne by the returnees themselves.
Per day expense for the local level set up quarantines is Rs 175 per person.
As per the new provisions, with the coordination CCMC’s provincial, district and local level mechanisms, the CCMC is supposed to monitor the test, quarantine and isolation management, the security situation there, and also arrange for their safe travel up to their destination.
Concerned authorities are asked to start infrastructure set up for it from June 3.
CCMC’s action plan has recommended the government to establish quarantine centers at the government-owned housing complex at Ichangu, previously used facility at Kharipati, Man Mohan Memorial Hospital, and KMC Duwakot.
The action plan deems it essential to arrange for the 300 thousand people returning soon.
