Cabinet decides to summon House session on May 8



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the cabinet has decided to convene the Parliament on May 8.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar had decided to recommend to the President to call the Parliament for 4 pm on May 8.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will convene the Parliament on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

Prime Minister KP Oli had on Wednesday visited the meeting hall of the Federal Parliament as part of the preparatory tasks to call the budget session.

He had inspected the hall in a bid to make necessary preparations for the meeting amid fears of COVID-19.

The parliament secretariat has already expedited precautionary measures for the prevention of coronavirus spread to hold the House sessions.

The Secretariat has been installing disinfection gates, making arrangements of thermal guns and sanitizers in this regard.

According to the Constitutional provision, the annual budget should be tabled at the Federal Parliament on May 28.
