Thundershowers forecast for few days with arrival of pre-monsoon



KATHMANDU: Thundershowers have been predicted at few places of the hilly region and at one or two places of the western hilly region today with partly to generally cloudy in most parts of the eastern and central hilly regions due to the influence of local winds, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

According to meteorologist Ganga Nagarkoti, pre-monsoon has already made its presence in the country and it will run for three months: from March to April. The pre-monsoon period is characterized by changes in weather in hilly regions during the afternoon and evenings.

Division forecasts partly to generally cloudy in the eastern and central hilly regions and partly cloudy in the western hilly region while there will be mainly fair in the rest of the country tonight. Isolated brief rain or thundershowers has been predicted at one of two places in the eastern and central hilly region tonight.

Tomorrow, there will be partly to cloudy in hilly regions and thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places in hilly regions. Hilly regions are likely to see partly to generally cloudy while there will be generally fair in the rest of the country tomorrow night. One or two places in the hilly regions predict the possibility of thundershowers.

Similarly, on Thursday, there will be partly to generally cloudy in hilly regions with the possibility of thundershowers at one or two places during the day while in the night western regions are likely to see generally cloudy while there will be partly to generally cloudy in the rest of the country. Thundershowers have been forecast at a few places in the western and central regions and at one or two places in the eastern hills.

The Division made this weather forecast available in its bulletin of the next 24 hours issued today. It has urged people to be watchful towards the possibility of thundershowers. The Kathmandu Valley’s minimum temperature was measured at 7.0 degrees Celsius today while the maximum temperature was 23.6 degrees Celsius; Simara recorded the highest 30 degrees Celsius temperature today across the country.
