3 held with Rs 10 mln for ‘Hundi transaction’ in capital



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in illegal Hundi transaction from the Kathmandu Valley.

Acting on a tip-off, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested them with Rs 10 million from Ombahal Chowk in Kathmandu.

The arrested are Bikash Mittal, Kamal Mittal of Jhapa and Ganesh Paudel of Parbat. They run a shop of mobile replacement parts at Ombahal.

According to DIG Sahakul Thapa of CIB, Rs 9,984,000 and US $ 800 were confiscated from the Mittal’s shop. Police said they are investigating the case after taking the arrested into custody.

A transaction of over Rs 1 million has to be made through a banking system as per the existing law in Nepal.
