NCP Secretariat meeting scheduled for today uncertain

KATHMANDU: The Secretariat meetign of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) scheduled to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Saturday afternoon has been uncertain.

The Secretariat meeting had been scheduled at 4 pm today to discuss the cabinet reshuffle, appointment of ambassadors, among others contemporary issues.

Prime Minister Oli and NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had agreed to hold the Secretariat meeing today afternoon, Dahal’s Press Advisor Bishnu Prasad Sapkota Jugal had said on Friday.  But the Prime Minister’s secretariat said they had no idea of the meeting, when contacted,.

Likewise, the Secretariat members also have not been informed of the meeting, according to NCP sources.

It may be noted that the relation between party Chairman Dahal and Prime Minister Oli has soured after Thursday’s cabinet decision of recommending the names of ambassadors, including former Finance Minister Dr Yuvaraj Khatiwada without discussing the issue with the party.

According to party sources, the meeting was supposed to discuss the task of completing the unification process of the two parties — erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center), which was entrusted to chairman duo Prime Minister KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, and party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel early last week.

Likewise, the meeting was also supposed to discuss financial assistance to the NCP whole-timers and the central committee members, along with cabinet reshuffle, among others.
