Judicial Council asks CJ, judges to submit property details



KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council has issued a notice asking the chief justice and all judges to submit property details of the fiscal year 2019/20.

 The Council has issued the notice to submit the property details within 60 days after the end of the last fiscal year.

Council Spokesperson Man Bahadur Karki said that the chief justice and all judges have to submit the property details within September 23.

Before bringing Judicial Council Act-2073 into implementation, there was a provision to submit the property details every two years. All judges have to submit the property details compulsorily after the formulation of the Judicial Council Act-2073 BS.

One has to pay Rs 5,000 fine for not submitting the property details. A total of 16 judges were fined for not submitting the property details in the previous fiscal year, added Spokesperson Karki. Supreme Court, High Court and District Courts have now 448 judges, including the Chief Justice.

The Council has asked to submit the property details within the deadline from postal service, courier, as well as other means as prohibitory order and lockdown, have been imposed in many districts.

The Council’s office would remain open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm except for public holiday, reads the notice.
