India records over 82,000 COVID-19 cases in past 24 hrs

KATHMANDU: More than 82,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 in a single day in India.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, as many as 82,860 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the number of cases to 3,848,968.

This is the highest number in Asia in terms of infection cases and the third in the world after Brazil and America.

Among those infected, 2,967,339 have recovered while 814,068 have been undergoing treatment at hospitals and isolation centers across the country.

Similarly, the number of deaths from the coronavirus has crossed 67.

In the past 24 hours, 1,026 people died from the virus, taking the death tally to 67,486 in the country.
