Slackness in tests: No coronavirus test reports even in 8 days

JAJARKOT: The slackness in PCR tests has exposed both the prospective infected people and their relatives to further health hazards.

According to Health Office Jajarkot sources, the swab PCR test result in Karnali is found to have taken more than a week’s time.

The Chief of Health Service Office, Dr. Sunil Pun stated that Jajarkot has sent the swab of 405 people for the PCR test in Surkhet since May 26, but most of the results have not come yet.

He informed that 14 people living in Paanchkatiya quarantine have been sent home after they spent 14 days in quarantine though their swab test result has not come.

The swab of 10 districts of Karnali Province is sent to Provincial Hospital Surkhet and Karnali Health Science Academy.

Dr. Pun pointed to a large number of returnees from India for the delay.

“The large number of people returning from India has increased the test pressure,” he said, “as only 200 samples are tested in a day, the result has taken a long time.”

Dr. Pun guessed the cause of delay could be the result of the pressure of returnees in all districts. “Perhaps, they might be doing on priority basis and Jajaorkot’s turn might not have come yet,” he said, “we can tell how many cases are here in Jajarkot only after receiving the result.

1434 people who have returned home from India are kept in different quarantines in Jajarkot. The health-workers have started collecting their swab from Tuesday.

According to Pun the swabs of 120 people including 113 people returned from India and 7 health-workers of the district are collected on Tuesday and sent for tests.
