DAOs directed to facilitate transportation of veggies

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed all 77 District Administration Offices in the country to facilitate the transportation of agro produce to the market.

The MoHA sent a communiqué to all the DAOs today to carry out the necessary coordination works as well at the respective district, so that the farmers are not discouraged and their products get easy access to the market.

The communiqué comes in wake of widespread criticism over the actions of authorities, including the DAO themselves in some districts, to destroy agro produce, especially veggies for alleged fear of Corona Virus.

It may also be noted that following the incident that repeated in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock had communicated to the Home Ministry, seeking a halt to such anti-farmer activities.

“The local administration has been asked to stop the acts of blocking transportation and destroying of vegetables, including to book those who are indulged in such activities,” MoHA information officer Uma Kant Adhikari said. RSS
