Dead body of Govinda Shahi missing in Rukum incident  found

JAJARKOT: The dead body of 19-year-old Govinda Shahi who went missing in the incident of Chaurjahari municipality-8 in Rukum West has been found.

Originally from Bheri municipality-11, Matela, Shahi was found dead in the Bheri river at Khotakhola of Bheri municipality-12 on Tuesday.

The dead body was found floating 20 kilometers away from the incident site, said DSP Kishor Kumar Shrestha.

According to Shrestha, the dead body has been taken to Jajarkot Hospital for postmortem. The cause of the death will come out following the postmortem.

Locals have claimed that Shahi was thrown in the river after beating him to death brutally.

Nineteen people including Shahi had come under attack when they went to Chaurjahari to bring the girlfriend of Nawaraj BK of Jajarkot on last Saturday.

Police have already retrieved dead bodies of five people from the Bheri River.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 18 people including chairman of Chaurjahari municipality-8 Dambar Bahadur Malla in connection with the incident.
