Rural municipality bans entry of newcomers over COVID-19 fears

KASKI: A rural municipality in Kaski district has restricted the entry of people since Wednesday evening into its territory as a part of its fight against COVID-19.

Rupa Rural Municipality, which lies to the east of Pokhara city has decided to prevent people from coming into its area by blocking the main entry points.

Chairman of the municipality, Nabraj Ojha, shared that a security person and two health volunteers would be deployed in each nine major entry points and added that the designated individuals would stay in the posts round the clock.

Ojha said that such a move will help keep the local people safer from the infection of coronavirus pneumonia.

“If anyone enters into the village he/she should compulsorily stay in quarantine under the surveillance of health workers for 14 days,” he added.
