NA lawmakers urge govt to take precaution against diseases

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the National Assembly on Sunday urged the government to guarantee the implementation of citizen’s right to basic health care services ensured by the Constitution.

The NA members said that the government should take precautions to stay safe from the deadly coronavirus.

The novel coronavirus which was originated from Wuhan of Hubei province in China has posed a global health threat.

Speaking in today’s session, Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Radheshyam Adhikari said citizens were not getting medicines announced to be free despite the guarantee of people’s fundamental right to basic health facilities.

He said people’s easy access to education and health should be ensured, which, however, has not happened.

Lawmaker Ramesh Jung Rayamajhi urged the government to pay attention to control and prevent the virus.

Likewise, lawmaker Dr Bimala Rai raised the issue of the deaths of eight Indian tourists due to suffocation caused by the use of a gas heater in Daman-based resort recently.
