No plan to enforce anther lockdown: Health Ministry

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has clarified that the government was not mulling to impose a lockdown anytime soon to contain the spread of COVID-19.

In a press conference organized by the Ministry here Friday, spokesperson for the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam asserted that the government had the capacity to manage the people who were actively infected with COVID-19.

According to him, the government was planning to keep the active infected ones in private healthcare facilities as well as hotels to treat the infected ones.

The Ministry was suggested to impose lockdown again if the case of active infection surpassed 25,000.

The meeting of the Incident Command System chaired by the secretary of the MoHP, Laxman Aryal, on September 23 had made such recommendation to the government in case of over 25,000 active cases of coronavirus.

The recommendation was furnished in view of the resource constraints in the government hospitals to properly manage the COVID-19 patients.
