Lions Club collects 2,459 units of blood in 45 days in Gandaki



GANDAKI: Lions Clubs in different districts under the Gandaki and Dhaulagiri areas have taken initiatives to collect blood.

A total of 2,459 units of blood have been collected in one and half month period.

Fifty-two clubs of these areas accelerated the blood donation programme after Blood Transfusion Centre started facing blood shortage due to lockdown imposed to prevent COVID-19 infection.

Department Chief of Lions Club of 325 (Vivan), Bal Krishna Sharma, said that the blood is being collected with technical support blood transfusion centre in all districts except Manang and Mustang of Gandaki State.

Similarly, 26 units of blood has been collected in a blood donation programme organized by Lions Clun of Shanti Stupa Chautari at Birautachowk of Pokhara today.

The Regional Blood Transfusion Centre is charging Rs 500 per unit blood for the patients undergoing treatment at community hospitals while Rs 1,000 for the patients receiving treatment at private hospitals.
