Civil Aviation Ministry proposes resuming flights to India from mid-Oct

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has offered to resume Nepal-India flights from mid-October.

Spokesperson Kamal Prasad Bhattarai said that the ministry has sent a proposal before the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) to resume flights to India from October 17.

“We have sent a proposal to open the Nepal-India air service. No decision has been made yet,” Bhattarai said.

He said that the PCR negative report conducted 72 hours before arrival from India should be mandatorily produced after arrival.

Nepal is preparing to resume air services to India after India launched an ‘air bubble scheme’ to enable citizens of various countries to return home.

It has been stated that the flight will be open for the repatriation of Nepalis in India with the coordination of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi.

However, due to the high rate of the coronavirus infection in India, it is not clear whether CCMC will be ready to resume air services immediately.
