Province 1 records 5 fresh COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours



BIRATNAGAR: Five more people have died from coronavirus in Province 1 in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Social Development of Province 1, most of them died in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan and Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital, Biratnagar.

A 56-year-old man breathed his last while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan on Wednesday night.

Originally from Itahari Sub Metropolitan City-6, the infected patient had been referred to Dharan from Birat Medical College after his condition deteriorated.

He was suffering from high fever, dry cough and respiratory complications, said Dr Nidesh Sapkota, the spokesperson of the Institute.

Similarly, an 84-year-old woman of Urlabari municipality-2 succumbed to the virus. The octogenarian was doing time in home isolation after being diagnosed with the pandemic.

Likewise, a 27-year-old man of Sunsari, Itahari who was serving a jail-term in Morang district prison has died from the virus. Coronavirus infection was confirmed in the man after his report of swab sample collected posthumously came out positive.

A 67-year-old man of Bisanpur-5, Saptari died from coronavirus in the course of treatment at Nobel Medical College, Biratnagar at 1:50 pm Thursday.

Referred to Nobel Medical College from Max Hospital, the sexagenarian tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday afternoon.

Similarly, a six-year-old boy of Janakpur Sub Metropolitan City-2, Dhanusha passed away in the course of treatment at Birat Medical College.

He had been hospitalized for the treatment of meningitis on September 25. The minor’s swab report conducted during his treatment period had come out positive.

With this, the number of coronavirus deaths in Province 1 has climbed to 75. Among them, 16 are from Pradesh 2.
