71 medical persons, health workers infected with COVID-19 at Bir Hospital

KATHMANDU: As many as 71 individuals including doctors and other health workers have been infected with the coronavirus pandemic at Bir Hospital.

According to Hospital Director Kedar Senchuri, 71 people including doctors and health workers have tested positive for coronavirus in the last three weeks.

Those infected include doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, cleaners among others, informed Dr Senchuri.

With the surge in coronavirus infection cases among medical persons and other staffers, the outpatient department has been sealed at the hospital.

“As many 71 individuals including doctors and nurses have tested positive for coronavirus at Bir Hospital”, Dr Senchuri told Khabarhub, adding, “Outpatient department has been closed for two days after the infection increased among the staffers at the hospital.”

Contact tracing and disinfection jobs will be done during the closure of the OPD service, added Senchuri.

However, emergency ward, laboratory and operation theatre services will remain open during the period.
