288 new cases reported, Nepal’s tally at 2,099

KATHMANDU: A total of 288 new cases of coronavirus have been reported as of Tuesday afternoon taking the tally to 2,099 according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota said that among the newly-infected are 270 males and 18 females.

He said that 74 fresh cases have been found in Rautahat, five Syangja, five in Parbat, one from Saptari, three from Bardiya, 17 from Banke, 27 from Surkhet, nine from Dailekh, 18 from Salyan, 10 from Achham, one from Bara, 17 from Dang and one from Pyuthan.

Likewise, newly-infected are eight from Kanchanpur, 10 from Kailali, six from Dhanusha, two from Mahottari, 21 from Sarlahi, 17 from Siraha, one from Bhaktapur, one from Dhading, 16 from Kapilvastu, four from Kathmandu, two from Nawalparasi, two from Nuwakot and 10 from Rupandehi.

Nepal had reported 239 new cases on Monday.

Similarly, 45 persons have discharged today after recovery taking the tally to 266 according to Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota.

Likewise, 1,825 are in isolation across the country, he said.

A total of 120 people are in isolation in Province 1, 711 in Province 2, 22 in Bagmati Province, 34 in Gandaki Province, 622 in Province 5, 251 in Karnali Province and 65 in Sudurpaschim Province.

According to the Ministry of Health, 75,343 tests have been carried out using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method so far. Out of this, 3,440 samples were tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours.

A total of 145,375 people have been quarantined across the country currently.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that 3,635 people in Province1, 22,536 in Province 2, 3,008  in Bagmati Province, 4,315 in Gandaki Province, 40,617 in Province 5, 26,447 in Karnali Province and 44,817 in Sudurpaschim Province have been quarantined.
