KATHMANDU: Through three chartered flights of Nepal Airlines Corporation, 582 Hongkongers including the Nepalis living there have flown to Hong Kong.
According to Nepal Airlines sources, 582 people have returned Hong Kong through two narrow-body A 320 and one widebody A-330 aircraft of Nepal Airlines.
The last flight of the chartered NA plane for Hong Kong was at 11 PM, last night.
According to Archana Khadka, the spokesperson of Nepal Airlines Corporation, the two narrow-body planes carried 155 each whereas the widebody carried 272 people from Nepal on Monday.
She informed that all three planes will arrive back to Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon.
The flight time from Kathmandu-Hong Kong is 4 hours.
Hong Kong has been a regular flight destination to NA, however, this is the first time it has taken so many passengers there in a single day.
“This is the first time in the Nepal Airline’s history that it has taken so many passengers to Hong Kong in a single day,” Deepu Maharjan, the Chief of NAC’s operation department told Khabarhub.
Earlier, NA’s widebody plane had made the historical longest chartered flights to Australia’s Sydney and Brisbane.
The third flight to Australia will be to Canberra on June 8. The 13 hrs long flight to Australia will have Kuala Lumpur as its transit during the flight.
Three more chartered flights scheduled Hong Kong this week
Nepal Airlines will have three more chartered flights to Hong Kong on June 3, 4 and 5.
According to spokesperson Khadka, as on Monday two narrowbody and one widebody flight will be taking more Hongkongers willing to return home in next week’s flight.
There are nearly 1,300 Hongkongese of Nepali origin stranded in Nepal due to the lockdown.
