Forest Consumers Committee chair held with Rs 50,000 bribe



MAHENDRANAGAR: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested a man with Rs 50,000 in bribe in Gauriganga Municipality-8, Badaipur of Kanchapur district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of anti-graft body caught Birkha Dhami, Chairman of the Community Forest Consumers Committee, Udasipur.

Dhami had taken bribe from locals in cahoots with the police by promising them that he would help them win the case lodged at the Area Police Office, Musariya, according to CIAA. It as a domestic dispute.

An investigation has been initiated on Dhami after arrest, said Pradeep Kumar Koirala, central spokesperson of the CIAA.
