26 Nepalis infected with COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia

KATHMANDU: With the Coronavirus infection cases increasing almost every day in Saudi Arabia, the number of Nepali migrant workers infected with the novel virus has also gone up in the country, of late.

Issuing a press note on Thursday, the General Consulate of Nepal in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia confirmed that 26 Nepali nationals have been infected with COVID-19 in Jeddah area.

According to the press note, one of them has recovered after treatment while the remaining 25 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country.

Mecca, Riyadh, Madina, Jeddah, Dammam are the hardest hit in Saudi Arabia, according to local media reports.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, the death toll from Coronavirus has reached 162 after five died in the last 24 hours. With 1, 351 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 22, 753 as of Friday morning.

Currently, 19, 428 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 123 are critical. Meanwhile, 3, 163 have returned home after treatment.
