2, 186 die in US in 24 hrs, tally reaches 63, 841



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 2, 186 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 63, 841 as of Friday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 30,536 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,094,730. This is an increase by 2,950 compared to the other day.  It was     27, 586 on Thursday.

Currently, 878, 565 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 15,226 are critical.  Meanwhile, 152, 324 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 23, 780 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 7,228 and 3, 789 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 233,814 and infecting 3,303,850 people as of Friday morning.
