DARCHULA: A Nepali migrant worker died after falling from a suspension bridge along the Nepal-India border in Darchula.

He was on the way back home from India after India announced a nationwide lockdown against the coronavirus pandemic.

The deceased has been identified as Agabar Singh Thagunna, 42, of Marma rural municipality-2 in Darchula.

According to the family source, he had been Madkot of Uttarakhand, India, for around the past six month for work.

He suffered a tragedy as he was returning home in the aftermath of lockdown against the coronavirus pandemic.

The family has not been able to get back his body as both countries are observing lockdown against the virus.

The bereaved family has sought the help of authority concerned so that they could bring his body back to home.

Chintan Thagunna, the victim’s relative said the incident site lies in Indian territory. “We have obtained a permission letter from the local government to retrieve the body and urge authority concerned to make arrangements for opening the bridge which has been closed due to lockdown.”
