KATHMANDU: Local level government has rejected the federal government’s decision to open the Rasuwagadhi entry point at the Nepal-China border citing coronavirus fears.
The Gosaikunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa has asked the federal government to reconsider its decision.
A meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel-led high-level committee had decided to reopen the Rasuwagadhi entry point. However, the rural municipality has asked the government to reconsider its decision.
The rural municipality has drawn the government’s attention in a letter to the Chief District Officer demanding that the government reconsidered its decision unless the fear of coronavirus spread is over.
The government had decided to open the Rasuwagadi and Tatopani entry points from Friday.
