COVID-19 kills over 42,000, infects 859, 796 across world



KATHMANDU: With the coronavirus wreaking havoc across the word, the global death toll from the deadly virus has surged to 42, 341 as of Wednesday morning.

Broke out in Chinese Wuhan City last December, it has already spread to 202 countries, infecting over 859, 796 people.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 72, 179 have been infected and 4, 334 died in the same span of time globally.

According to the World Health Organization, 637, 069 have been receiving treatment at various hospitals and isolation wards, of which 32, 297 are critical.

America has the highest number of infected people. The death toll in the country has reached 187, 347 with 23,559 new cases in the last 24 hours.

The total death toll from the virus in America has reached 3, 860 after 719 died in a single day.

Similarly, Italy has the highest number of deaths. The death toll from the coronavirus in Italy has reached 12, 464 after 837 died in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, the total number of people infected with the COVID-19 has reached 105, 792 after 4, 053 were infected in a single day.

Currently, 77, 635 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, of which 4, 023 are critical. According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, 15, 729 have recovered so far.

The first case of coronavirus had been reported on January 29 in Italy.

Likewise, the coronavirus infection is fast spreading in Spain. A total of 95, 923 have been infected as of Wednesday morning.

As many as 748 people died in the last 24 hours in Spain taking the total to 8, 464. Similarly, 7, 967 have been infected in a single day.

With this, the total number of people infected with the novel virus in the country has reached 95, 923, of which 19, 225 have recovered after treatment.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, 5, 607 among those undergoing treatment are critical.
