NCP Secretariat meeting venue changed to Baluwatar citing ‘security threat’

KATHMANDU: The venue of the Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been changed citing ‘security threat’ on top party leaders.

The meeting earlier scheduled to be held at the party headquarters in Dhumbarahi will now be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

A Secretariat member said that the meeting would be held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar at 1 pm.

However, the party source did not elaborate on the “security threat” issue.

The ruling NCP top-notch leaders will dwell on the separate political proposals submitted by chairman duo KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Secretariat meeting.

According to sources, both the factions led by Oli and Dahal-Nepal, are prepared to put-forth their bottom-line as the party is heading towards a decisive juncture today.

It is learnt that five secretary members – Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Madav Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha – have prepared a joint written response to Oli’s proposal.

Executive Chairman Dahal will present the responses to the 38-page long political dossier tabled by Oli at the Secretariat meeting held on November 28.

Dahal is also likely to seek resignation of the prime minister in the meeting today apart from passing comments on Oli’s political dossier, said a leader close to Dahal.

In the political proposal submitted in the Secretariat meeting on November 13, Dahal had stated that Prime Minister Oli has to ‘sacrifice for the party and the country’.
