2,824 diagnosed COVID-19 positive, Nepal’s tally jumps to 173,567



KATHMANDU: As many as 2,824 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal’s COVID-19 has reached 173,567 with fresh cases as of Sunday afternoon.

Altogether 13,023 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.

A total of 3,620 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 134,842 in the country.

The recovery rate stands at 77.7 percent.

Nepal currently has 37,765 active cases. A total of 30,986 people are in home isolation and 6,779 at institutional isolation.

Likewise, 2,386 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

A total of 283 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 78 have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry, 29 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 11 in Province 2, 180 in Bagmati Province, 15 in Gandaki Province, 39 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali Province, and five in Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of 12 in Province 1, 58 in Bagmati, two in Gandaki Province, five in Lumbini Province and one in Sudurpaschim Province are on the ventilator support.

As many as 23 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 death tally in the country to 960, the Ministry confirmed.
