Over 8,000 persons infected with coronavirus in Lalitpur



LALITPUR: Lalitpur district has so far recorded more than 8,000 cases of coronavirus.

The District Public Health Office here informed that the number of people testing positive for coronavirus has reached 8,463 while the death toll reached 77.

Similarly, 5,976 persons infected with the virus have got recovery here. Currently, the active cases of coronavirus stand at 2,410 in the district, said office Chief Khageshwor Gelal.

“With the increasing spread of coronavirus, we intensified discussions with Province government and social development ministry there to make contact tracing available to all suspected ones,” he added.

According to him, most of those losing lives to COVID-19 belong to the age group from above 60 year. In the total infected ones, 70 to 80 percent people are suffering from chronic diseases.

In view of the condition of the infected ones, 30 to 35 ambulances are in operation in Lalitpur district, he said, adding if the number of symptomatic people grows at the present rate, it would be difficult to ensure oxygen and hospital bed. RSS
